Kuruva Island is the most beautiful island in Wayanad, the island is untouched by humans and its natural beauty is admirable. To reach the island only boats are used and in boating option, you can choose bamboo rafting. Bamboo rafting is the cheapest option as they charge around 10 rupees for one side ride. The fun fact about the ride is you will be just a few inches above the water surface.

2. Ancient Inscriptions at Edakkal Cave

Edakkal cave in Wayanad is believed to be of 5000 BC time period and has the inscriptions on the wall of Cave. The cave is formed by two massive stones and is about 96 ft long. Inside the cave, you will see carving everywhere which were made by humans of that time and mostly the animals and humans’ carvings are done. There is no direct way for vehicles to reach so you need to trek for 45 minutes to reach the cave and at the entrance, you can buy tickets.

Chembra Peak – Chembra Peak is the highest mountain in Wayanad and trek at the place is organized by the forest department. At the top of the peak, there is a small lake that resembles a heart shape.  

Lakkidi Viewpoint – Lakkidi viewpoint is a passage in Wayanad and every tourist who passes from here stops for a view of the beautiful surrounding. At Lakkidi’s viewpoint you will see lots of monkeys.

Tholpetty and Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary are other sanctuaries that are the perfect place to see many wild animals. These sanctuaries do require a small number of entry fees and you are not allowed to carry any plastic item inside to keep the area clean for wild animals.

7. Boating on Pookode lake

Pookode Lake is a beautiful lake that is surrounded by lush green forests and the view of landscapes is amazing. The place is famous for boating, photography, and bird-watching. This freshwater lake is a home of many freshwater fishes and blue lotus. Another fact about the place is that the lake resembles the map of India. Around the lake, there are a freshwater aquarium, children parks, and bird-watching spots.

9. Swim in Beautiful Waterfalls

Soochipara Falls is one of the largest waterfalls in Kerala and is a major tourist attraction. It is easily reachable by vehicles but from 2 km from the waterfall, there is no way for vehicles so we need to walk to the waterfall. The waterfalls from 300 meters of height and forms a pool on the base which is ideal for swimming. You need to hire a guide if you reach in the monsoon season. On the entrance there a security check as you are not allowed to carry any plastic item.
