Guruvayur is a small town in Thrissur and is home to many famous temples. One of the most famous temples in Guruvayur is the Guruvayoor temple that is dedicated to Lors Krishan and is the third-largest temple in India. There are so many temples in Guruvayur that thousands of tourists visit this town and the best thing to do is celebrating the Shivratri festival that lasts for 12 days. 1. Sree Parthasarathy

This temple is one of the best temples to visit n Guruvayur and is dedicated to Lord Krishna. The temple is famous for its architecture and you will see many sculptures inside the temple. Inside the temple, you can see many paintings of Gods and the arts of Kerala.

2. Devaswom Museum

This museum is visited by many tourists to see the art and culture of Kerala. The museum is in Sree Guruvayoorappan temple and displays antiques of around 5000 years old. If you are history enthusiasts then you can visit the Devaswom museum to see antiques, paintings, pieces of jewellery, musical instruments and weapons too.

3. Punnathurkotta Elephant Palace

The elephant camp is one of the best places to visit in Guruvayur and is home to 60 Asian elephants. If you are an animal lover, then this place is a must to visit because the whole place is covered with dense green forests. Every year a ritual happens here in which you can participate to worship elephants.

4. Chavakkad Beach

5. Institute of mural painting

The institute was found by Shri Mammiyoor Krishnan Kutty in 1989. The institute is situated near the Guruvayur temple and is famous among locals. Here you can learn the Kerala style painting and other art sculptures; the course is a five-year diploma where you will be taught different arts.

6. Vallabhatta Kalari 

Kalaripayattu is an ancient martial art form which was originated in India. There are many centres in Kerala where you can watch experts performing this art and you can also learn the basics of Kalaripayattu. In Guruvayur you can visit Vallabhatta Kalari centre to watch and learn Kalaripayattu.

7. Famous Temple in Guruvayur

Guruvayur temple is one of the most ancient temples in India and is the most visited temple in Kerala. Here at this temple, Lord Vishnu is worshipped and it is said that non-hinds are not allowed inside the temple. At the temple, you can see many elephants and you can watch them play and bathe. 

To enter the temple you have to follow the traditional dress code, you can not wear modern clothes, leather. Do not carry any food items on the temple premises.

8. Palayur Church 

The church is one of the ancient churches in India, it was established in 52 CE and still the most visited place in Guruvayur. The festival features fireworks and orchestra performances.
